The award winning Agriculture Department offers experiences unique to OHS students. The program consists of a three part approach to education: Classroom/ Lab, FFA (Leadership) and SAE (Projects)
Classroom/Lab: There are five UC A-G courses that explore animal and plant sciences. The Agriculture and Natural Resources pathway gives students important coursework in veterinary science, animal care, and plants.
FFA: Future Farmers of America (FFA) offers leadership training to all students enrolled in an agriculture class. Students learn public speaking, competition, community service and service oriented activities
SAE: At the farm, students have a myriad of projects available to them through Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE); fish and aquaponics, sustainable agriculture, vertical gardens, vermiculture, wild bird management, landscaping, gardening, petting zoo, market beef, lamb and pigs, small animals and specialty animals.
The award winning Livestock Show Teams compete with their animal projects at the Orange County Fair and other livestock shows in the county.
