School Community

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month - Did you know that getting a mammogram can help reduce the number of deaths from breast cancer by 30-40% among women ages 40-70? So encourage your mom to get one! This information is brought to you by Panthers Against Cancer.

Wednesday, October 16th is the end of the quarter and a Minimum Day.

“Be Our Guest” - Homecoming is next Saturday, October 19th. Tickets are on sale now during nutrition and lunch for $40 with ASB and $45 without. Prices will increase to $55 for all starting Monday. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Buy your tickets from Mrs. Hatch in room 602 or Mr. Briseno in the Attendance office. Bringing a guest? Pick up a guest form in the Main office or room 602. You will need an ID to enter the dance, if you need a new ID go to room 602.

Do you have detention hours to clear? Serve today at lunch in room 403. Show your PRIDE Panthers and clear your hours! Questions? Need a plan? See Miss Visconti in room 403.

Saturday School - Attend Saturday School to clear your detention hours! Saturday School is from 8-12, enter campus from the Walnut gate. See you tomorrow!

Band’s Fall Concert is on October 29th @ 6:30pm in the Little Theater. This year's concert will feature music from popular movie soundtracks such as Star Wars, Pixar, and Dreamworks. Tickets are $5 at the door.  We’ll see you there Panthers!

Panthers! Are you 18? Have you registered to vote yet? If not, you can do so in the quad all next week, at lunch, in front of 601. Not yet 18? No worries ... All civic-minded 16 and 17-year-olds can pre register next week and be ready for the next election.  Be sure to bring a CA state ID with you to register.

Attention students! The yearbook is at its lowest price right now at $100 with ASB, $105 without ASB. To get this registration price, visit Mr. Briseno in the front office to purchase your book or go to Jostens.com to buy online. This price will change on October 18th so act fast!

Get ready for a spooktacular time! The FFA is excited to present the third annual Halloween Social, “Slash The Night Away” happening on October 16th & 17th at the farm from 6 to 9 PM. Bring your friends and family for a night of thrills, featuring delicious food, games, a petting zoo, face painting and a haunted maze! Tickets are $10 for general admission and $6 for repurchase. Don’t miss out—grab your tickets in room 808 today!

Panthers in need of an emergency bus pass, go to the Front office.  Do not wait until after school! Get your pass during Break or Lunch.

Clubs

Calling all Orange High School students! Are you ready to sharpen your argumentation skills, build confidence in public speaking, and make new friends who share your passion for discussion and debate? Join the Orange High School Debate Club! Join us at our first meeting on Monday in Room 404, at lunch. We can't wait to meet you and start debating!

College and Career

Attention 10th, 11th, and 12th graders, are you interested in taking the ASVAB Test? The ASVAB is an exciting opportunity to explore all of your career and post-secondary options and find the one that works for you. The ASVAB helps you identify your skills and interests and encourages you to explore all pathways you can take to reach your goals-education, credentialing, licensure, apprenticeship programs, and the Military. The test will be Friday, November 15th. For more information and to sign up, please visit the College and Career Center, room 601.

Students in need of a work permit visit the College and Career Center, room 601 or you can visit the OHS website.

Seniors

Seniors, keep an eye out for your Cap and Gown packages in the mail. They will start going out next week. Cap and Gown orders are due by December 22.
